Full Front Repoint

We recently completed a repointing project for a local estate agent, revitalising the front of a charming property using red trowel mastic. This specialised technique not only restored the structural integrity of the brickwork but also enhanced the building's curb appeal with a clean, polished finish.

The red trowel mastic was carefully applied to match the original colour and texture, ensuring a seamless blend with the existing masonry. Our attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship resulted in a beautifully restored façade that now stands out, making a strong impression for potential buyers and clients.

We recently undertook the rebuilding of a front garden wall, carefully restoring it in Flemish bond to maintain the original aesthetic and structural integrity of the property. As a retaining wall, it plays a crucial role in supporting the garden's landscape, making the choice of bond and construction method vital for both appearance and function.

Our team meticulously dismantled the old, deteriorated wall, preserving as many original bricks as possible to ensure the rebuilt wall retained its authentic character. Using the traditional Flemish bond technique, where headers and stretchers are alternated in each course, we reconstructed the wall with precision, creating a visually appealing pattern that matches the original design.

The result is a beautifully restored retaining wall that not only enhances the property's curb appeal but also honors its architectural heritage. The use of Flemish bond ensures that the wall is both strong and stylish, seamlessly blending with the surrounding structures and maintaining the timeless charm of the original masonry.

Lintel Repair

We were recently commissioned by a local estate agent to repair a corroded sandstone lintel that had compromised the structural integrity of a property's façade. The original sandstone lintel, a key architectural feature, had deteriorated over time, leading to concerns about safety and stability. Given the limited financial budget for the repair, we devised a cost-effective solution that maintained the appearance of the property while ensuring its structural soundness.

To address the issue, our team carefully installed an angle iron retrospectively to support the load that the sandstone lintel could no longer bear. This method allowed us to reinforce the structure discreetly, preserving the visual appeal of the building without the need for extensive and costly stone replacement. The angle iron was expertly concealed, maintaining the original aesthetic of the façade while providing the necessary support.

The result is a robust, secure lintel repair that respects the financial constraints of the project while safeguarding the property’s structural integrity. Our approach ensured that the estate agent’s client received a practical and visually seamless repair, extending the life of the building and enhancing its marketability.

Gable Rebuild

We recently completed a comprehensive rebuild of a gable end wall that had suffered significant structural damage due to the failure of the original wall ties. Over time, the corroded wall ties caused the external brickwork to bulge, compromising the safety and stability of the entire wall. This project required a careful and strategic approach to restore the integrity of the structure while keeping costs manageable for the property owner.

To address the external brickwork, we meticulously dismantled the bulging sections of the wall, preserving as much of the original material as possible. The external wall was then rebuilt using new wall ties, ensuring a secure connection between the inner and outer layers and preventing future movement. This process not only restored the structural stability of the wall but also maintained the original appearance of the property.

Internally, the corroded lime mortar and damaged bricks were replaced with concrete blocks, a cost-effective solution that provides enhanced strength and durability. The use of blocks minimised the need for expensive repairs while effectively combating the water ingress that had caused the original mortar to deteriorate.

The result is a fully restored gable end wall that combines traditional craftsmanship with modern building techniques, ensuring long-term stability and protection against future issues. Our approach successfully addressed the structural concerns while keeping within budget, providing the property owner with peace of mind and preserving the aesthetic integrity of the building.

After conducting a comprehensive non-invasive drone survey, we identified severe deterioration in the chimney structure that necessitated a full rebuild. The drone survey provided us with high-resolution imagery and precise measurements, allowing us to assess the damage without disrupting the existing masonry or risking further deterioration. This modern approach ensured a thorough evaluation while maintaining the integrity of the property.

The rebuild began from the backtray upwards, using authentic Accrington brick—a material renowned for its durability and classic appearance, perfectly matching the original construction. These bricks were carefully selected to maintain the historical integrity of the chimney, ensuring a seamless blend with the existing structure. Our skilled craftsmen meticulously laid each brick, preserving the traditional techniques that define our work, ensuring both the strength and aesthetic appeal of the chimney.

To complete the restoration, we pointed the chimney with a flush finish using red trowel mastic. This method not only provided a clean and polished appearance but also enhanced the durability of the mortar joints, ensuring long-lasting protection against the elements. Additionally, all leadwork was renewed, providing a watertight seal that prevents future water ingress and further deterioration of the structure.

The result is a fully restored chimney that not only matches the original design but also meets modern standards of durability and weather resistance. By combining traditional masonry techniques with high-quality materials and advanced diagnostic tools, we delivered a restoration that preserves the historical character of the property while securing its structural integrity for years to come.

Beautiful Red Mastic Repoint & Stonework Restoration

We recently completed a full repointing of the front of a property, enhancing both its structural integrity and aesthetic appeal. The repointing process involved carefully removing the old, deteriorated mortar and replacing it with a flush troweled finish using red trowel mastic. This technique not only provided a clean and uniform appearance but also ensured the longevity and resilience of the brickwork against weathering and environmental factors.

To further protect and preserve the new mortar, we applied double-boiled linseed oil. This traditional treatment penetrates deep into the masonry, offering an additional layer of protection while enriching the color of the red trowel mastic, giving the brickwork a vibrant, well-maintained look.

In addition to the repointing, we restored and painted the stonework on the property’s façade. The stone elements were carefully cleaned, repaired, and repainted to bring them back to their original grandeur. This comprehensive restoration process not only revitalised the property’s appearance but also ensured that every detail was in harmony, creating a beautifully cohesive and durable finish that respects the building’s heritage while enhancing its curb appeal.

Garden Step

We recently had the pleasure of designing and implementing a garden step project with a special focus on safety, particularly due to the client’s concern for their two young children, both under the age of three. The primary aspect of the project was to create a functional and visually appealing step while minimising potential hazards for the children.

To address these concerns, we designed the garden steps with gently curved edges, eliminating sharp corners that could pose a risk to small children. The curved design not only enhances safety but also adds a soft, organic aesthetic that complements the garden’s natural surroundings. The materials were carefully chosen to ensure a non-slip surface, further reducing the risk of accidents, especially in wet conditions.

In addition to the curved edges, the steps were built with a gradual rise, making them easy for young children to navigate. The design also considered the overall flow of the garden, ensuring that the steps blended seamlessly with the existing landscape while providing safe access between different levels.

This project highlights our commitment to creating beautiful and functional spaces that prioritize the needs and safety of our clients and their families. The result is a set of garden steps that not only meet the client’s safety requirements but also enhance the overall look and usability of their outdoor space.

Garden Wall

We recently completed the construction of a garden wall designed to perfectly match the original aesthetic of the property. The key focus of this project was to ensure that the new wall seamlessly blended with the existing architecture, maintaining the cohesive and timeless look of the home.

To achieve this, we selected light-colored bricks that closely matched the hue and texture of the property's original masonry. The choice of materials was critical in preserving the visual harmony between the new garden wall and the existing structures. Our skilled craftsmen carefully laid each brick, ensuring that the bond pattern, joint size, and overall finish mirrored the traditional brickwork of the property.

The result is a beautifully constructed garden wall that not only enhances the outdoor space but also respects the architectural integrity of the home. By using light-colored bricks and paying close attention to detail, we were able to create a structure that feels like a natural extension of the property, adding both function and aesthetic value to the garden.
